San Patricio County Jail Roster

The San Patricio County Jail Roster is a public resource that allows anyone to check who is currently in custody at the county jail. In the state of Texas, such rosters are maintained by the sheriff's office and are regularly updated. SanPatricioCourt.us provides the opportunity to search for publicly available information about current and recent inmates. Additional access points include the official website of the San Patricio County Sheriff's Office, in-person inquiries at the jail reception, and phone requests. The roster reflects individuals who are in custody at the time of viewing and serves as a tool for criminal justice transparency at the county level.

Search Current Inmates in San Patricio Jail

There are several ways to find out if a specific person is being held in the San Patricio County Jail.

Online Search

  1. Visit SanPatricioCourt.us to search for publicly available information on court records and inmates.
  2. Visit the San Patricio County Sheriff's page. The sheriff's office maintains links to VINELink — a victim notification system that allows checking the custody status of an offender.
  3. If the roster is available as a list, use the browser's search function (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) by entering the inmate's last name.

To start your search, you will need:

  • The person's full legal name (last name and first name)
  • Booking number, if known

Juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster.

Phone Inquiry

Call the jail directly or the sheriff's dispatch non-emergency line. Be prepared to provide the full name and date of birth of the person you are looking for.

In-Person Visit

You can visit the jail reception or the public information window at the county courthouse.

Find San Patricio Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the moment a detained person is officially admitted to jail. This is not the same as a court record — booking records the fact of being taken into custody.

During the booking process, the following data is generated:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of admission
  • Charges filed
  • Arresting agency
  • Demographic data of the detainee (name, date of birth, gender)

Access to booking records can be obtained through the jail roster on the sheriff's website or by submitting a public information request. San Patricio County accepts public information requests in accordance with the Texas Public Information Act. If you need a record not available in the online roster, submit a written request to the sheriff's office.

To check a statewide criminal history, use the Texas DPS criminal history search. This database covers arrests and convictions across the state, not just in one county. More details on how criminal history checks work are explained in the Texas State Law Library guide.

Court records are a separate category. Civil and family cases are available through the re:SearchTX platform, which collaborates with the county clerk's records department. Criminal cases heard in district courts can also be searched through this system.

Search the San Patricio Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The inmate roster typically supports two main search methods.

Search by Last Name

Enter the last name in Latin script. If there are too many results, add the first name to narrow down the list. Ensure the spelling is correct — even one letter can change the result. Some systems support partial searches: for example, entering the first few letters of a last name will show all those whose last name starts the same way.

Search by Booking Number

If you know the booking number, enter it — this is the fastest way to find a specific record. The booking number is unique for each instance of being taken into custody.

If the Search Yields No Results

  • Check the spelling of the name. Try variations with or without a hyphen.
  • The person may have already been released — the roster only shows those currently in custody.
  • The detainee may not yet be entered into the system. There is a delay between the actual arrest and appearance in the roster.
  • Call the jail at (361) 364-9300 to verify directly.

Remember: the roster is not an archive. It does not store records of everyone who has ever passed through the jail.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in San Patricio

The frequency of roster updates depends on the system used by the jail. In most county facilities in Texas, data is updated during the workday, although the exact interval — hourly or several times a day — may vary.

Main limitations to be aware of:

  • Delay between arrest and publication. The booking process takes time: photographing, fingerprinting, data entry. A record may appear in the roster several hours after the actual arrest.
  • Disappearance of records after release. When a person is released — on bail, by court decision, or after serving a sentence — their record is typically removed from the current roster.
  • The roster is not a criminal history database. It only shows those currently in custody. For a complete criminal history, contact the Crime Records Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
  • Data errors. Sometimes a name is entered incorrectly, or charges are updated after initial booking. If the information seems incomplete, contact the sheriff's office.

To receive notifications about changes in the custody status of a specific person, use the VINELink system, which is referenced on the sheriff's page. This system sends automatic notifications when an inmate is released or transferred.
